1
INDUCTION
Flue gas flows through a packed bed of our patented polymer beads. CO2 adsorbs on the beads, whilst other gases flow past due to the material’s high selectivity.
2
ADSORPTION
The beads in the bed reach the limit of their adsorption and the flow of flue gas is switched to a second bed.
3
SEPARATION
The bed is then purged to remove excess raw gas to improve the purity of the CO2 stream.
4
REGENERATION
The pressure in the system is reduced, releasing the CO2 from the beads, and producing a pure stream of CO2. The system is then ready to receive more flue gas.
The PolyCapture technology has very high selectivity for CO2, ensuring that it produces highly pure gas streams directly from flue gas, reducing the need for further purification technologies. When combined with waste heat recovery systems, this offers significant energy and emissions savings.
The polymer is highly resilient to impurities in the flue gas, and its performance is not significantly affected by the presence of water vapour within the system. This ensures a long life for the capture polymer and limited system degratation through a large number of adsorption cycles.
Temperature swing absorption can also be used with PolyCapture’s technology.
